The Beaches Go Green Earth Day 2025 cleanup was held at four locations from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. April 19. They were: Atlantic/Neptune Beach (Atlantic Boulevard Beach access), Jacksonville Beach (Latham Park), Ponte Vedra Beach (Mickler Beach access) and St. Augustine Beach Pier.
At Atlantic/Neptune Beach, 420 pounds of trash were collected, valued at $3 per pound, resulting in a $1,260 trash abatement value. A total 8,754 cigarette butts were picked up. In all, there were 334 volunteer hours, valued at $31.61 per hour, resulting in a $10,557.74 volunteer contribution.
At Jacksonville Beach, 640 pounds of trash were collected, valued at $3 per pound, resulting in a $1,920 trash abatement value. A total 11,000 cigarette butts were picked up. In all, there were 274 volunteer hours, valued at $31.61 per hour, resulting in an $8,661.14 volunteer contribution.
At Ponte Vedra Beach, 80 pounds of trash were collected, valued at $3 per pound, resulting in a $240 trash abatement value. A total 370 cigarette butts were picked up. In all, there were 127 volunteer hours, valued at $31.61 per hour, resulting in a $4,014.47 volunteer contribution.
In St. Augustine Beach, 160 pounds of trash were collected, valued at $3 per pound, resulting in a $480 trash abatement value. A total 3,152 cigarette butts were picked up. In all, there were 75 volunteer hours, valued at $31.61 per hour, resulting in a $2,370.75 volunteer contribution.
In all, 1,300 pounds of trash were collected, valued at $3 per pound, resulting in a $3,900 trash abatement value. A total of 23,275 cigarette butts were picked up. In all, there were 810 volunteer hours, valued at $31.61 per hour, resulting in a $25,604.10 volunteer contribution. This added up to a combined impact of $29,504.10.
