The Lightner Museum in St. Augustine is hosting "Dressing Downton: Changing Fashion for Changing Times," through Jan. 7, 2018, and thanks to the Garden Club of St. Augustine, the first thing you see as you enter the exhibit are flowers and greenery arranged in the style of the Granthams of Highclere Castle.
The Garden Club of St. Augustine pitched in to provide “Dressing Downton” with a floral signature not seen at other stops on its tour. Members of the Floraliners Guild of the Garden Club have designed a new flower arrangement every week, each reminiscent of a signature episode in the show. In the weeks before the exhibit's conclusion on Jan. 7, the arrangements pay floral homage to holiday celebrations in the spirit of post-Edwardian royalty.
The “Dressing Downton” exhibit features the costumes featured on the PBS hit series “Downton Abbey.” The furnishings and art featured in the exhibit's 17 vignettes are from the Lightner's own collection, and many have not been displayed for decades. These historic pieces are contemporaneous with the era of the TV series.
