Vicar’s Landing Scholarship Committee, funded by members of Vicar’s Landing Retirement Community, has announced that more than $300,000 will be awarded as scholarships to 87 employees of Vicar’s Landing, including 10 children of employees.

James Munson, chairman of the scholarship committee, announced the amount to the membership, congratulated the recipients and thanked his committee: Carolee Bertisch, Sallie Ann Hart, Sue Foley, Jim Marx, Laurie Reeves and Dr. John Woodard.

This year there were 77 general scholarships, 36 member-special scholarships and 12 named scholarships. General scholarships, member-special and named scholarships have been donated specifically by residents of Vicar’s Landing.

Employees were eligible for general awards of $2,500, plus special awards of $1,000 to $3,000 for qualified expenses related to colleges, trade schools, English as a Second Language, nursing schools and others. Vicar’s Landing departments represented were dining, health, administration, housekeeping, wellness and activities.

Vicar’s Landing Boutique, although restricted by COVID to only one public sale, raised more than $60,000, which was donated to the Scholarship Fund.

That committee was co-chaired by Rose Murdock and Ginny Elliott, and members included Sue Foley and Yvonne Goldsmith — Art, Sherri Russell — Christmas, Kay Zolezzi — Jewelry, and Sandra Burnaman, Mary Ann Stone, Jean Cowell, Lyn Cabrera and Ken O’Hara.
