More than 230 people came together last week to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Vicar’s Landing in Ponte Vedra Beach.

Held Wednesday, Oct. 17, the elegant evening kicked off with cocktails, hors d'oeuvres and music from a Chamber Group of the Jacksonville Symphony in the retirement community’s auditorium.

Vicar’s Landing CEO Bruce Jones provided remarks to set the scene for the night, noting that the community has served 1,327 members in its 30 years and employed thousands of staff members. In addition, he highlighted the community’s recent renovations, accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities, Gold Seal and impact on the community through efforts such as its scholarship program.

“We have a great deal to be proud of here tonight,” Jones said. “A lot to celebrate.”

The celebration continued with an impressive meal in the dining room that included poached Scottish salmon with crème fraiche topped with caviar, surf and turf and more. After dinner, event attendees returned to the auditorium for dessert and dancing, with music provided by Will Hurley’s band.

The upscale retirement community opened in 1988 and has since become one of the most reputable institutions of Ponte Vedra Beach. With hundreds of independent living residences, a skilled nursing facility and an assisted living facility, Vicar’s is now home to more than 360 seniors and has a waiting list that could more than refill the campus.
