Underwood’s Jewelers holds LAGOS trunk show benefitting Ayla’s Acres

Underwood’s Jewelers hosted a LAGOS trunk show Oct. 12-14 that benefitted Ayla’s Acres No-Kill Animal Rescue, Inc.

The first day of the trunk show featured a cocktail party attended by actress, artist and animal advocate Loretta Swit. Event attendees enjoyed the opportunity to engage with Swit, while admiring the jewelry and enjoying cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. Guests also had the chance to participate in a raffle benefitting Ayla’s Acres for a LAGOS Diamonds & Caviar diamond beaded bracelet, which was valued at $3,000.

The three-day trunk show wrapped up with an adoption event on Oct. 14 in the jewelry store’s parking lot, where visitors had the opportunity to take home a new furry friend.

Swit said the overall event is better and better each year.

“We have people who keep coming back,” she said. “It’s grown into a real wonderful relationship that benefits everybody, because we do sell jewelry, and we do make money for Ayla’s.”

Underwood’s Jewelers General Manager John Rutkowski explained that a percentage of the money from LAGOS jewelry sales over the course of the three-day trunk show is given to Ayla’s Acres.

Fran Charlson, the executive director of the nonprofit, said the funds raised will benefit the organization’s capital campaign for the creation of Peter’s Friends Animal Resource Center. To be situated on a 20-acre property near World Golf Village, the center will ultimately provide rescue, shelter, adoption, low/no-cost spay, neuter and vaccination services for dogs and cats, and an educational center to accommodate thousands of children and adult groups each year. As a result, Charlson is grateful for the support of Underwood’s.

“They’ve been absolutely wonderful to us,” she said. “It’s been a terrific partnership. We hope to see it continue for many years.”
