Mark A. Toney M.D., a board-certified pediatrician and pediatric hospitalist who has served the Northeast Florida community for 20-plus years, has been appointed to the newly created position of vice president of medical affairs at Wolfson Children’s Hospital, effective Nov. 1.
In this role, Toney will focus on the effectiveness of clinical care for children who are served at all Wolfson Children’s locations, including the main hospital, five satellite ERs, Pediatric Trauma Center and regional outpatient pediatric specialty care centers. He will continue to work closely with community pediatricians and pediatric specialists with Nemours Children’s Health, the University of Florida College of Medicine — Jacksonville, and other collaborating pediatric health care organizations.
In addition to his patient care role as a pediatric hospitalist since 2003, Toney has served as chief of the Division of Hospital Pediatrics for Nemours Children’s Health and Wolfson Children’s Hospital since 2012. In his leadership role, his accomplishments have included:

A Jacksonville native, Toney graduated from Bishop Kenny High School and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in nuclear engineering at Georgia Tech. Volunteering at an Atlanta children’s hospital changed his career course to pediatric medicine. He earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University and completed his pediatric residency with the UF College of Medicine — Jacksonville.
Toney is married to Meagan and is the father of four.
