THE PLAYERS Championship announced last week that the tournament has reached more than $100 million in total donations — surpassing a 10-year goal of $50 million generated for local nonprofits — and that the 2018 tournament generated a record-setting $9 million for local charities.

Executive Director Jared Rice and tournament leadership made the announcement at Jacksonville’s City Hall on Friday, July 13, alongside Jacksonville Mayor Lenny Curry, who proclaimed July 13 as THE PLAYERS Championship Charity Day in celebration of the tournament’s accomplishments.

"We honor and thank all of those associated with THE PLAYERS Championship by making today's proclamation," Curry said. "This tournament serves as a global showcase for our community to the world. We should all take a minute to reflect on how fortunate our area is to have an entity like THE PLAYERS Championship that has made a significant impact on so many lives throughout Northeast Florida.”

Rice received the proclamation and commemorated his organization's achievements.

"Personally, it's inspiring and humbling to be part of an organization that is driven and has a goal and purpose to give back to the community in which we play and compete and live," Rice said. "$100 million is a tremendous impact, an amazing accomplishment delivered by all of you here today. We couldn’t be more thankful for Northeast Florida for coming out and supporting the tournament. We look forward to doing even more together in the future. Mayor, thank you for the proclamation, and we appreciate all the support of Northeast Florida."

Following the speeches, THE PLAYERS Championship gifted a 33-passenger van to the Jacksonville Children's Chorus, a handicapped accessible van to Hart Felt Ministries, and 15-passenger vans for the Police Athletic League and Jacksonville's School for Autism.
