The Rotary Club of Ponte Vedra Beach Sunset is holding its second annual comedy fundraiser, Comedy for a Cause, on Saturday, April 21, at University of North Florida’s Robinson Theater.

The festivities start at 6:30 p.m. with complimentary hors d’oeuvres, a cash bar, 50/50 raffle and silent auction featuring more than 50 items, including restaurant gift certificates, golf packages, unique artisan items and more. Danny Johnson, a Northeast Florida award-winning comedian, is back for the second straight year. This year, he is bringing along two of his friends to entertain the crowd. Johnson has starred on Comedy Central’s Laugh Riots and shared the stage with a host of comedic celebrities, such as Chris Rock, Bob Saget, Billy Gardell, Richard Lewis and many others. The event will support several Northeast Florida charities.

“The Sunset Rotary Comedy event was a fun night of fellowship and laughs,” said Shelley Morgan about last year’s event. “This great group of Rotary friends went all out with good comedians, prizes and silent auction items.  I look forward to attending again. Sunset can really put on a party.”

Dan Cavey echoed Morgan’s sentiments.

“I attended the comedy fundraiser a little reluctantly, thinking it would either not be funny, or be too crude,” he said. “Wow, was I wrong. The first comedian was very funny and had me laughing from the first few minutes. By the time the second comedian was half way through, I was laughing so hard I was crying. It was great fun, clean humor and an overall awesome event.”

Tickets for the event are $35 and can be purchased online at www.comedy4acause.org.
