The Rotary Club of Ponte Vedra Beach Sunset held its second annual comedy fundraiser, Comedy for a Cause, on Saturday, April 21, and ultimately raised more funds this year than last year for several Northeast Florida charities.

Held at the University of North Florida’s Robinson Theater, the event featured hors d’oeuvres, a cash bar, 50/50 raffle and silent auction including more than 50 items, such as restaurant gift certificates, golf packages, unique artisan items and more.

Danny Johnson, a Northeast Florida award-winning comedian, headlined the evening. He has starred on Comedy Central’s Laugh Riots and shared the stage with a host of comedic celebrities, such as Chris Rock, Bob Saget, Billy Gardell, Richard Lewis and many others. Johnson was joined by fellow comedians Wes Johnson, Christina Schriver and Joey Nickel.

“It was wildly successful for us,” said Cyndi King, president of the Rotary Club of Ponte Vedra Beach Sunset. “Those in attendance had a very enjoyable time. Many who attended last year enjoyed it just as much this year and are looking forward to attending next year.”
