Students earn degrees, named to academic lists

Several area students have been recognized for academic success at their respective colleges and universities.

Local residents graduate from RIT

Two St. Augustine residents graduated with bachelor’s degrees from the Rochester Institute of Technology in May. They are: Barbara Essex, biomedical sciences; and Sophia Williams, sociology and anthropology.

Local students receive degrees from the University of Tampa

The University of Tampa hosted a commencement ceremony May 6 to honor the 1,525 degree-seeking candidates. Graduates from St. Johns County were: George Eubank of Ponte Vedra, Master of Business Administration; Samuel Akers of Ponte Vedra, Master of Business Administration; Matt Maletta of St Augustine, Bachelor of Science in cybersecurity; and Timothy Terezakis of St Augustine, Bachelor of Science in finance.

• April Sanchez of Ponte Vedra graduated in May with a bachelor of science degree in health science from Hofstra University
• Christopher Carney of Ponte Vedra Beach graduated Summa Cum Laude with a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Tufts University.

Local students named to Bryant University dean's list

Two local students were named to the spring semester dean’s list at Bryant University: Nicholas Thoresen of Ponte Vedra, and Ryan Piersza of St. Augustine.

Coastal Carolina University names students to dean’s list

Two students from Ponte Vedra were named to the dean’s list for spring semester at Coastal Carolina University: Margot Mace and Tamlyn Parkes.

Local students named to Holy Cross dean's list

Two students from Ponte Vedra Beach were named to the College of the Holy Cross' dean's list for the spring semester: Rachel Johnson and Blake Kurdziel.

St. Augustine students named to Champlain College dean's list

The following students from St. Augustine have been named to the Champlain College dean's list for the spring semester: Alexander Brown and Nicholas Kasprzak.

• Julia Peiris of Ponte Vedra was named to spring semester dean's list at Tufts University.
• Camryn Hartley of Anastasia Island has been named to the spring quarter dean's list at Palmer College of Chiropractic's Florida Campus in Port Orange.
• Patrick Adams of St. Augustine, majoring in first year engineering, has been named to the dean's list at Youngstown State University for spring semester 2023.
• Jackson Lehner of Ponte Vedra Beach was named to the spring 2023 dean's list at the University of Dallas. Lehner is a business major.
• Tyler Cooper of Ponte Vedra, majoring in economics, was named to the dean’s list for the spring semester at St. Olaf College.
• Matt Komaroski of Jacksonville Beach has been named to the spring 2023 dean's list at Pacific University in Oregon.

President’s Lists

• Devin Alvarez of St. Augustine was named to the spring 2023 presidential honor list at New York Institute of Technology.
• Sydney Vitti of Ponte Vedra was named to the College of Charleston’s spring 2023 president's list. Vitti is majoring in German and music.
