Students earn degrees, named to academic lists

Several area students have been recognized for academic success at their respective colleges and universities.

Five local residents graduate from Georgia Institute of Technology

The Georgia Institute of Technology presented degrees to more than 5,300 undergraduate and graduate students during commencement exercises May 5-6, including Summer Danzeisen and Aditya Singh of Ponte Vedra, Jonathan Evans of Ponte Vedra Beach and Jose Avila and Ruchi Patel of St. Augustine.

Local residents graduate from Valdosta State University

Valdosta State University has announced the members of its graduating class of spring 2023. This includes the following area residents: Katherine Scott of Ponte Vedra Beach and Nadea Jackson and Estin Thiele of St. Augustine.

Area residents graduate from the University of Mississippi

More than 3,100 students graduated from the University of Mississippi in May 2023. Local graduates include, from Ponte Vedra Beach: Chloe Faver, psychology; Harriet Walters, political science; Nora Hynes, communication sciences/disorders; Sydney Hofstetter, entrepreneurship; Davis Lazzara, marketing; William Moore, real estate and banking and finance; and from St. Augustine: Kathryn Hess, elementary education; Taylor Radecki, exercise science.

Miami University students receive degrees

Miami University awarded degrees to students during its 2023 spring commencement, including: Cole Groseclose and Natalie Akers, both of Ponte Vedra.

Local students earn degrees from University of Maryland Global Campus

University of Maryland Global Campus graduated nearly 3,400 students in the 2023 spring semester. The following local students earned degrees: Devon Wilson of Ponte Vedra, Bachelor of Science in general studies; Hayden M. Ammenheuser of St. Augustine, Bachelor of Science in computer networks and cybersecurity; Tiffany Esmeralda Chevez of St. Augustine, Bachelor of Science in management studies; Jimmy Duque of St Augustine, Bachelor of Science in health services management (cum laude); Daniel Jimenez of St. Augustine, Bachelor of Science in computer networks and cybersecurity.

Local students receive degrees at The University of Alabama

Some 5,885 degrees were awarded during The University of Alabama's spring 2023 commencement at Coleman Coliseum. Local recipients include, from Ponte Vedra: Emma Sims, master’s degree in social work; from Ponte Vedra Beach: Ella Burgess, bachelor of arts in communication and information sciences; Rendon Crowley, bachelor of science in human environmental sciences; Claire Hogan, bachelor of science; Joseph Rumsey, bachelor of science in commerce and business administration; from Jacksonville Beach: John Chiarelli, bachelor of science in commerce and business administration; Elizabeth McCabe, bachelor of science in microbiology; from St. Augustine: Olivia Geremiadis, bachelor of science in education; Abigail Hawkins, bachelor of arts in communication and information sciences; Beau Staton, bachelor of science in commerce and business administration; Cassidy Thompson, bachelor of arts; Hannah White, bachelor of science in human environmental sciences.

Area residents graduate from Mercer University

Two area residents have graduated from Mercer University. They are: Daniel Little of Jacksonville, College of Pharmacy, earning a Doctor of Pharmacy; and Kathryn Vanderlinde of Jacksonville Beach, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, earning a Bachelor of Science.

  • Emalie Brannigan of Ponte Vedra Beach graduated in May from University of Iowa with a Bachelor of Arts degree in education studies and human relations.
  • Noah Bunkosky of Ponte Vedra has graduated from St. Cloud State University with a Bachelor of Science in marketing (cum laude)
  • Scott Crumpton of St. Augustine earned a Doctor of Business Administration degree recently from Georgia State University.
  • Abigail King of St. Augustine graduated from Cedarville University in spring 2023 with an undergraduate degree in theatre.
  • Jillian Mason of St. Augustine graduated May 6 from The University of Kentucky College of Arts and Sciences with a Bachelor of Arts in psychology.
  • Austin Murray of St. Augustine graduated from Baldwin Wallace University in Berea, Ohio, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in business administration.
  • Amanda Rowe of St Augustine is among more than 4,100 students graduating from Mississippi State University in spring 2023.
  • Mary Slattery of Ponte Vedra Beach has graduated from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Slattery earned a Bachelor of Science in biomedical engineering in biomechanics.

Local students named to Tallahassee Community College Dean's List

More than 1,300 students were named to the spring 2023 Dean's List at Tallahassee Community College. Local students are: Carter Elliott, Hanna Ferah, Megan Gladden, Savannah Grobstick, Nicole Linebaugh, Luke Sprowell and Lily Vitale, all of Ponte Vedra Beach; Alivia Glazier, Kiley Hurst, Kieyera Kolbow, Carissa Lofgren, Logan McCarthy, Sophia Peake, Samuel Schuh, William Tate and Lauren Wisnosky, all of St. Augustine; Megan Barts and Addison Popp, both of Jacksonville Beach; and Sophia Groene and Nicholas Pearson, both of Jacksonville.

Local residents named to RIT Dean's List

The following students were named to the Dean's List at Rochester Institute of Technology for the spring semester of the 2022-23 academic year: Andrea Vega of Ponte Vedra, applied arts and sciences program; Jamie Antal of St. Augustine, computer science program; Ryker D'Angelo of St. Augustine, English program; Barbara Essex of St. Augustine, biomedical sciences program; Xavier Flores of St. Augustine, design and imaging technology program; Kilian Jakstis of St. Augustine, computational mathematics program; and Sophia Williams of St. Augustine, sociology and anthropology program.

Two named to Lehigh University dean's list

Canaan Kimball of Ponte Vedra and Kevin Cawood of St. Augustine were named to the Lehigh University dean’s list for spring semester 2023.

Local students named to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute dean’s list

The following students from Ponte Vedra have been named to the dean's honor list for the spring 2023 semester at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York: Mary Jane Dittrich, studying chemical engineering; Grace Farmer, studying biology; Emily McNee, studying games and simulation arts and science.

University of Mississippi announces spring 2023 dean's honor roll

The University of Mississippi has announced students named to the spring 2023 honor roll lists, including dean's honor roll. The following local students made the list: Alexandra Schupler of Ponte Vedra Beach, majoring in general business; Katie Stoudt of Ponte Vedra Beach, majoring in integrated marketing communications; Kathryn Hess of St. Augustine, majoring in elementary education; and Kailey Jackson of Jacksonville Beach, majoring in integrated marketing communications.

University of Tampa honors dean's list students

The University of Tampa has honored 2,007 students who were named to the dean's list for the spring 2023 semester. The following local students were named to the dean's list: Isabella Caldropoli of Ponte Vedra, majoring in Public Health-PRE; Calvin Grant of St. Augustine, majoring in computer science; Lyle Kamback of St. Augustine, majoring in allied health; Nina Kamback of St. Augustine, majoring in advertising and public relations; Samantha Schlegel of St. Augustine, majoring in marine science-biology; Timothy Terezakis of St. Augustine, majoring in finance; and Emily Willey of St. Augustine, majoring in advertising and public relations.

Students named to dean's list at Georgia Tech

The following students have earned the distinction of dean's list at the Georgia Institute of Technology for spring 2023: Sarah Fraga of Ponte Vedra Beach and Sabrina Berman of St. Augustine.

University of Mississippi announces chancellor's honor roll

The University of Mississippi announced students named to the spring 2023 honor roll lists, including chancellor's honor roll. The following local students were named to the list:

Chloe Faver, majoring in psychology; Nora Hynes, majoring in communication sciences/disorders; Tyler Leonard, majoring in integrated marketing communications; Duncan MacAdams, majoring in civil engineering; and Jack Reed, majoring in general business, all of Ponte Vedra; and Faith Gardner, majoring in allied health studies; and Piper Thomas, majoring in mechanical engineering, both of St. Augustine.

Local students named to Tallahassee Community College president's list

More than 1,300 students were named to the spring 2023 president's list at Tallahassee Community College, including: Trevor Bell and Hannah Schillo, both of Ponte Vedra; Luke Elian, Veronika Li, Madison Olson and Zachary Porter, all of Ponte Vedra Beach; and Kyndal Elam, George Godfrey and Kaitlyn McCarthy, all of St. Augustine.

Other President’s Lists

  • Andrew Berquist of Ponte Vedra was named to the Mississippi State University spring 2023 president's list.
  • Sarah Smathers of Jacksonville Beach was named to the Presbyterian College spring 2023 president's list.

Students earn faculty honors at Georgia Tech

The following students earned the distinction of faculty honors for spring 2023 at the Georgia Institute of Technology: Jameson Gatewood of Ponte Vedra Beach and Zachary Breitbart of St. Augustine.

Other Honors

  • Taylor Borja of St. Augustine was recently initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation's oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society. Borja was initiated at University of Maryland Global Campus.
  • Ohio University University College student Marli Krol of St. Augustine has been named to the 2023 spring provost's list.
