Reference Librarian Joan Hakala will retire at the end of this month. Hakala came to the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library in July 2007.
Reference librarians provide in-person and virtual assistance, helping with everything from applying for jobs to getting tax forms. Hakala assisted Anne Crawford, youth services librarian & VolunTeen coordinator, with the youth patrons and various library programs. Hakala conducted a systemwide inventory of all library materials in 2014. Hakala also helped Crawford create the Tween Zone, a place for kids and tweens to play read and play chess and checkers.
Guests are welcome to stop by the Ponte Vedra Library before April 28 to wish Hakala well in her future endeavors.
