Race car legend Hurley Haywood will attend the 16th Annual Ponte Vedra Auto Show in Nocatee hosted by the St. Johns County Chamber of Commerce and presented by Fields Auto Group.

"We've been involved and supported that show from the beginning when it was held right in Ponte Vedra," Haywood said. "Now it's moved out to Nocatee. It's a great show, I think the people like going there. They can get really close to the cars and really examine them, and every manufacturer has their own little setup."

Haywood said his book, “Hurley from the Beginning,” will be available at the auto show. He will be signing copies at the event.

"(The book) tells the whole story," Haywood said. "It basically traces my life from the very beginning to present so it's a really great book. It's over 650 photos in it, some of them I've never seen before, and it really gives an in-depth look at who Hurley is and how it all got started."

Haywood noted that there will be representatives from the Porsche Sport Driving School offering test drives in connection with its dealership location in Jacksonville. Furthermore, 180 collectors' cars will stake their claim to receive a trophy in over 30 categories. The auto show will feature classics, exotic cars, pristine trucks and sleek motorcycles on display, food trucks with lunch and beverages and other vendor booths.

This year, Haywood is lending his name to the show to help promote it. The racing legend will be on hand to meet attendees and take photos at the event, which is scheduled for Sept. 9 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Spray Park event field in Nocatee.        Haywood has five overall victories at the Rolex 24 at Daytona, three at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and two at the 12 Hours of Sebring. Throughout his career, the professional driver collected a 1988 Trans-Am title, two IMSA GT Championships, three Norelco Cup Championships, a SuperCar title and 18 IndyCar starts.
