Porsche test drives to be offered at Auto Show

Attendees of the Ponte Vedra Auto Show will once again have the opportunity this year to test drive a variety of Porsche models.

The Macan GTS, 911s, and 718 Cayman and Boxters will be among the cars available for the experience, which Porsche Jacksonville General Manager Brandon Starks said is certainly unique.

“There’s nothing quite like it,” he said. “We like seeing everyone enjoy driving them.”

Porsche Jacksonville, which is part of Fields Auto Group, will host two driving instructors from Porsche Sport Driving School in Birmingham, Alabama to help people test drive the cars. According to Starks, the excursions will take place on Nocatee Parkway and a few of its on and off ramps. Additional Porsche models, Starks said, will be on display for people to check out.

“The reason we do this is to show that the cars are accessible to people and to break down a barrier that might keep someone from driving one,” Starks said about the test drives.

Starting at 9:30 a.m., each test drive takes about 15 minutes, with each session beginning every 25 minutes. A sign-up tent will be located in the activity field for those interested in the experience. Pre-registration is not required. Drivers must be at least 21 years old and have a valid U.S. driver’s license.

“You see a lot of smiles when people get back,” Starks added. “I think a lot about the car surprises them. I think they’re surprised at the comfort of the car, and then on the other hand, they’re surprised at truly how high-performance the cars are.”
