Ponte Vedra theater students to present comedic rendition of ‘A Christmas Carol’

The Ponte Vedra High School (PVHS) theater department will present the Farndale Avenue Housing Estate Townswomen’s Guild Dramatic Society Production of “A Christmas Carol” Nov. 29 to Dec. 2.

To be held at the PVHS auditorium, the comedic rendition of the holiday classic will take place at 7 p.m. Nov. 29-30 and Dec. 1, and at 3 p.m. on Dec. 2.

Five students portray a range of characters — some of whom you might recognize from the original Charles Dickens play. The script by David McGillivray and Walter Zerlin Jr., however, leaves ample room for the retelling of the holiday classic, and Ponte Vedra drama students, led by theater director Jason Nettle, will challenge your expectations of Dickensian theatre, while they tickle your funny bone.

“Our students show their versatility with their interpretation of these characters,” Nettle said. “This is a show for anyone who needs a comedic break from our busy lives — and that’s all of us.”

According to the theater department, the student cast, which includes a strong tech crew and clever costume design, will dazzle you with a new take on the holiday classic’s favorite holiday characters. The show calls for a dizzying array of costume changes, witty parodies and show-stopping songs.

Tickets are $10 and can be paid for via check or cash at the door. Proceeds benefit the PVHS theater department.
