Ponte Vedra Plastic Surgery recently announced the death of founding partner and esteemed plastic surgeon, Dr. Paul John Scioscia, at the age of 57.

Scioscia began his career at Vanderbilt University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree, studying molecular biology and chemistry. He received his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He then completed an internship and a five-year residency in general surgery at the University of Pittsburgh and Pennsylvania State University. Subsequently, he completed a two-year residency in plastic and reconstructive surgery at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.

Scioscia elected to extend his training to sub-specialize in cosmetic surgery by completing a one-year fellowship in aesthetic surgery at New York University’s prestigious Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital. There he trained with many of the world’s most prominent plastic surgeons. He started his career 20 years ago in Jacksonville, ultimately joining Ponte Vedra Plastic Surgery as one of its founding partners.

Scioscia loved his family, traveling, golfing, cooking, spending time with his friends and caring for others. His goal was to provide his patients with the highest-quality care, in a respectful and discreet manner. Ponte Vedra Plastic Surgery – specifically, Dr. Robert Burk, Dr. Cayce Rumsey, Dr. Brett Snyder, Dr. Erez Sternberg and Dr. Hollie Hickman – has expressed a commitment to providing the same level of care to all of Scioscia’s patients going forward.

To obtain medical records or further information about current or future treatment, Scioscia’s patients are encouraged to contact Ponte Vedra Plastic Surgery at (904) 395-2701.
