Ponte Vedra JV cross country wraps up season on high note

Posted

On Saturday, Oct. 21, 109 Ponte Vedra High School Cross Country JV athletes raced in the North Florida JV Championship and MS State Qualifier at Bishop Kenny High School.

Almost half the runners recorded their personal bests, some just a week after having an impressive showing at the PVHS home meet.

Overall, the JV boys team took first place, with the JV girls coming in second behind The Bolles School. The freshmen girls had an impressive showing with Sherbrooke Balser, Stella Knehans and Christina D'Aquila earning spots on the varsity team and the chance to compete at districts. Rounding out the top ten in the girls’ competition were Lucy Morfit and Sarah Reimer.

For the boys, juniors Chandler Garcia and Jackson Noye, as well as senior Quinn Mowlam, secured the last spots on the varsity team and will be running next week. Also finishing in the top ten for PVHS were Kyle Reinheimer, Luke Synder and Nicolas Guerrero.

This weekend marked the end to the regular season for the JV team, which began training in late May with their dedicated coaches, who despite the growth in the program into the triple digits, were able to motivate and encourage each athlete. The Ponte Vedra High School Cross Country JV team will now enjoy a little respite while continuing to cheer for their teammates in next week’s district meet hosted at PVHS.

The JV girls kick of their race Oct. 21.
