Ponte Vedra HS theatre department to present ‘Rumors’

The Ponte Vedra High School theatre department will present “Rumors” by Neil Simon Oct. 19-22 in the PVHS auditorium.

The farce comedy takes place in late 1980s New York and focuses on a group of middle-aged high-class friends trying to cover up the attempted suicide of their friend Charley Brock to protect his reputation and prevent unwanted consequences from surfacing in the future. Rumors. Gossip. Gunshots. How would you be able to handle showing up to your best friend’s 10th wedding anniversary and discovering he had shot himself?

“This production will be quite different from the previous shows performed at Ponte Vedra High School,” said stage manager Kyle Lozano. “With its endless comedic content, the audience won’t find a break from laughter.”

Director Jason Nettle, together with his cast, brings script to reality in the most memorable way possible. Nettle has previously produced shows at Ponte Vedra High School such as “Almost, Maine,” “Into the Woods” and “Guys and Dolls.” He credits his success to his group of young actors and actresses and also his technical crew, which he has dubbed “the best tech crew in the world.” Requiring assistance for the direction of this show, Nettle enlisted PV students Maggie Frantz and Cassandra Dayton. Dylan Howick is serving as the production’s technical director.

“Rumors” will be presented at PVHS at 7 p.m. Oct. 19-21, and 2 p.m. on Oct. 22. Admission is $10. Ponte Vedra High School is located at 460 Davis Park Road in Ponte Vedra Beach.
