PLAYERS Community Senior Center offers November schedule

The following programs will be held at COA’s THE PLAYERS Community Senior Center, 175 Landrum Lane, Ponte Vedra Beach, beginning in November 2023. Most classes are four weeks long and begin the first week of November.

The center will be closed for Thanksgiving on Thursday, Nov. 23 and 24, as well as Friday, Nov. 10, in observance of Veteran’s Day. If you have any questions or wish to register, call Suzanne Duvall at 904-209-3659.

Lunch, Tuesdays: Noon to 1 p.m. Four weeks starting Tuesday, Nov. 7. Registration required a week in advance and fee required: $5 per meal.

Lunch, Thursdays: Noon to 1 p.m. Four weeks starting Thursday, Nov. 2. Registration required a week in advance and fee required: $5 per meal.

Duplicate Bridge: Noon to 3 p.m. Two weeks starting Friday, Nov. 3. Fee required: $2 per person, per Friday. You must have a partner.

Line Dancing Class: 4 to 5:30 p.m. Four weeks starting Wednesday, Nov. 1. Instructor Will Oglesby teaches many different line dances with a good selection of music. Open to all adults and experience levels. No class on Wednesday, Nov. 22. Registration and fee required: $37.50 per month

Tap Dance Class: 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Two weeks starting Friday, Nov. 3. Instructor Ginny Wirzbicki brings much experience to this style of dance and encourages all different levels of dance to learn. Registration and fee required: $12.50

Hisshin Sumi-E Painting Class: 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 9. Traditional East Asian brush painting. This class meets once a month. Fee required: $3 per person.

Acrylic Painting: 9 a.m. to noon. Five weeks starting Wednesday, Nov. 1. No fee required. Instructor on site Wednesday, Nov. 8.

Caregiver Support Group (free program): 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1. The group is open to all adult caregivers; meets once a month, on the first Wednesday of each month. Register with the Alzheimer’s Association at 800-272-3900.

Chair Exercise, Tuesdays: 9:30 to 10 a.m. Four weeks starting Tuesday, Nov. 7

Bocce Ball: 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Two weeks starting Friday, Nov. 3

Hope for the Holidays presented by Community Hospice: Join us for light refreshments as bereavement specialist Kim Fore presents ideas and coping mechanisms for enjoying the holidays. 11 a.m. to noon Thursday, Nov. 2

Annual PLAYERS Day! 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 7. THE PLAYERS Championship visits! Join us for a fun-filled day hosted by THE PLAYERS Championship staff, Red Coats and volunteers. There will be a putting competition at 11 a.m., a catered holiday lunch at noon followed by BINGO from 1 to 2 p.m. Registration and lunch reservations required; RSVP by Oct. 27.

Hope4Veterans: 11 a.m. to noon Thursday, Nov. 9. A free presentation by Lynn Geiser of Hope4Veterans. Hope 4 Veterans serves women through three programs: Peer 2 Peer Sister, Laptop and Financial Assistance. The Peer 2 Peer Sister Program uses mentors — other military women — to help participants learn about self-care, resources and just being a sister.

COA Travel Club Meeting: Learn about upcoming trips planned by the COA Travel Club. The COA Travel Club for St. Johns County seniors was created in partnership with Bartimus Travel Group of St. Augustine. Let’s explore the world together! 11 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Nov. 14
