Pedestrian hit and killed by car in Ponte Vedra Beach

Jeffrey Holmes Rudell, a 77-year-old Jacksonville man, died on Friday, March 9 in Ponte Vedra Beach after he was struck by a car while running across A1A, according to Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).

Per FHP’s crash report, the incident occurred at approximately 9:43 p.m. at the intersection of A1A and Library Boulevard.

FHP said an Audi was traveling southbound on A1A in the right lane approaching the intersection of Library Boulevard. Rudell, the pedestrian, was running from the east shoulder across the crosswalk toward the west shoulder on the south side of the intersection. Rudell ran into the path of the Audi, said FHP.

According to the crash report, charges are pending.
