Palms Presbyterian to hold Blessing of the Animals service Oct. 21

Posted

Palms Presbyterian Church recently announced it will hold its second annual Blessing of the Animals service on Sunday, Oct. 21, outside in the Palms’ Oasis Garden.

All types of pets (dogs and cats, birds and rabbits, chickens and fish) are invited to the special service, which begins at 4 p.m. The service is a celebration of the love people share with their pets and a blessing in celebration of St. Francis of Assisi, who is known as the patron saint of animals and the environment.

All dogs must be on a leash and all cats must be in a carrier to ensure a welcoming and inclusive environment. Those who may have lost a pet are invited to bring a photo to remember those who have crossed over the Rainbow Bridge.

Palms Presbyterian asks each visitor to bring pet food as an offering, which will be donated to the Jacksonville Humane Society. All pets will receive an engraved tag to commemorate the special day and their blessing.
