Palms Presbyterian seeking help in fight against hunger

Posted

Volunteers are needed for Palms Presbyterian Church’s inaugural Hunger Fight Packing Event Sunday, Feb. 4 from 9:45 to 11:45 a.m.

For the event, which will be held in the church’s Patten Hall at 3410 Third St. South in Jacksonville Beach, Palms Presbyterian will partner with the local Hunger Fight organization to pack 30,000 meals of macaroni and cheese, beans and rice and oatmeal for the less fortunate. Of the 30,000 meals, 25,000 will go towards hurricane relief efforts in Puerto Rico, and 5,000 will be stored for local distribution through the church’s Kids’ Kitchen program.

For this initiative, Palms Presbyterian is seeking at least 100 volunteers. Both adults and children age 4 and older are invited to sign up at the Hunger Fight table in Patten Hall throughout the month of January. At the end of the packing event, there will be a blessing of the food.
