St. Johns County and the Palm Valley Community Association (PVCA) recently announced that Palm Valley Road Sidewalk construction has begun. This project will fill the sidewalk gaps along the west side of Palm Valley Road from Landrum Road to the State Road A1A intersection.
"When completed, the sidewalk will connect the community from Nocatee to the S.R. A1A intersection and north through Ponte Vedra Beach,” Palm Valley Community Association President Greg Leonard said. “People can enjoy walking to school, church, work or run errands."
Phase 1 of the sidewalk construction is now underway. Phase 1 includes sections from Palm Valley Road at Landrum Lane to Canal Boulevard.
"It has taken the PVCA more than 10 years of community engagement working with the county officials and staff to bring this crucial road safety project to fruition," PVCA Sidewalk Committee Chair Jayne Evans said. “We appreciate the work of all who recognized the need and supported this project over the years. Personally, it is gratifying to see the project underway. The PVCA looks forward to celebrating the completion of the sidewalk with a Palm Valley Road Community Celebration in 2024.”
