St. Johns County hosted an open house April 21 to give the public information regarding the planned Palm Valley West boat ramp project.
Staff from the county Public Works and Parks and Recreation offices were available to answer questions and share details. The open house was held at THE PLAYERS Community Senior Center in Ponte Vedra.
The project will involve construction of a new concrete boat ramp, a new fixed wooden dock, a new floating dock with aluminum gangway, a new sidewalk, relocation of a kayak launch and improvements to parking and maneuvering areas.
The project area is on the west side of the Intracoastal Waterway with parking located under the Palm Valley bridge. The boat ramp and docks will be located adjacent and to the north of the parking area.
Bids will be received in the summer and construction will begin in the fall. Construction is expected to be complete in the spring of 2023.
A total $1,050,000 has been provided for the project through funding from waterway access and the Florida Inland Navigation District.
