Palm Valley Academy — the new K-8 school in Nocatee — held a fundraiser in November called the Bobcat Bolt that ultimately raised $119,000 for continued improvements of the school.

Palm Valley Academy students ran their hearts out despite chilly weather and a wet and muddy track, collectively running nearly 2,500 miles in the one-day fundraising event. Kindergarten through sixth-grade students ran more than 20,678 laps, which is approximately two miles per student and 2,481 miles overall.

Exceeding its fundraising goal, the school plans to use the money for a new playground and shade structures as well as a middle school resource room. Flagler Hospital was the title sponsor of the event.

The 2018 top earner was Grayson Jones from Mrs. Giampetro’s second-grade class. Jones earned a Bravoz Entertainment Center Up Package for him and a friend. The top fundraising class was Mrs. Bell’s kindergarten class, earning them a VIP class party at Bravoz Entertainment Center.
