Northeast Florida American Red Cross receives $14,000 grant

The Northeast Florida American Red Cross recently received a $14,000 Allstate Foundation Helping Hands® Grant from 16 Allstate agency owners from Jacksonville.

By volunteering their time to help install smoke detectors in community members’ homes, the agency owners licensed sales professionals earned $1,000 grants each for the American Red Cross. The Northeast American Red Cross chapter will use the $14,000 grant to further its disaster relief work throughout the state. Disasters affect nearly one million people each year, yet 85 percent of Americans are unprepared for one.

“Our Allstate volunteers see firsthand the opportunities and challenges facing the communities they serve,” said Shilene Singleton, local Allstate agent. “Giving back is core to who we are at Allstate, which is why we’re all proud to volunteer to help promote fire safety and save lives, while raising funds for residents who have been or may be affected by a disaster.”

The Northeast American Red Cross chapter is one of thousands of organizations this year to receive Allstate Foundation Helping Hands Grants secured by agency owners, personal financial representatives and licensed sales professionals on behalf of the nonprofits where they volunteer. The grants support organizations addressing domestic violence, youth empowerment, disaster preparedness, hunger and other causes.
