All Soul’s Day Service planned

An All Soul’s Day Service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1, at Christ Church Episcopal, 400 San Juan Drive, Ponte Vedra Beach. The remembrance for those who have died will be open to the public and free of charge, with optional good-will offerings donated to Community Hospice and Palliative Care of Northeast Florida.

To celebrate the lives of those who have passed, the Christ Church Chancel Choir will join with several guest singers and an instrumental ensemble to present the Requiem, composed by Heather Sorenson. Attendees will have an opportunity to light a candle for loved ones lost.

Republican Executive Committee to meet

The St. Johns County Republican Executive Committee will hold its business meeting on Thursday, Nov. 2, at the Palm Valley Community Center, 148 Canal Blvd., Ponte Vedra Beach. For further information, go to StJohns.GOP.

Beach parking lot to close temporarily

On Thursday, Oct. 26, St. Johns County will temporarily close the 2700 S. Ponte Vedra Blvd. public beach parking lot for public safety as crews begin work on the next phase of the FEMA Dune Enhancement Project. The lot closure is anticipated to last about three weeks, weather permitting. 

For this phase of the project, the county selected construction company Phillips and Jordan Inc. as the lowest, most responsive, and most responsible bidder at a not-to-exceed bid price of $7,435,168.81 with an additional $800,000 for project delivery cost. St. Johns County will receive a FEMA grant reimbursement of $6,176,376.61 and a state Department of Emergency Management grant reimbursement of $2,058,792.20 after all project phases are complete.

‘Howling Halloween’ dog adoption Saturday

A “Howling Halloween” dog adoption event will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, at Pet Supermarket, 880 A1A N., Ponte Vedra Beach.

There will also be a bake sale hosted by S.A.F.E. Pet Rescue Club at Ponte Vedra High School, and a Best Costume Contest, which starts at 1 p.m. All proceeds benefit S.A.F.E. Pet Rescue.

Donations of dog food, dog treats, cleaning supplies, etc., will be gratefully accepted.

Palm Valley Market every Tuesday

The Palm Valley Market is held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Tuesday inside the Palm Valley Community Center, 148 Canal Road. The market offers fresh produce, baked goods, local honey, tea, seasonal treats, soap, jewelry, plants and more.

Beach cleanup is Oct. 28

The Guana Tolomato Matanzas National Estuarine Research Reserve (GTM) will conduct a beach cleanup on Saturday, Oct. 28. Meet at 9:30 a.m. at the GTM Research Reserve Visitor Center, 505 Guana River Road, Ponte Vedra Beach, where gloves and trash bags will be provided. Participants will be directed to a specific beach for cleanup. Hat, insect repellent, water and sunscreen are recommended. Email Candace.Killian@FloridaDEP.gov to participate.
