Treasures in the Trunk is Saturday

The Ponte Vedra Woman’s Club will hold its fourth annual Treasures in the Trunk community sale to benefit local charities from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, in the Coldwell Banker parking area, 240 Ponte Vedra Park Drive.

Net proceeds will benefit the Betty Griffin Center, BEAM, Port In The Storm, HUGS Across The County, the Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind and college scholarships.

Shoppers will be able to buy from local artists, jewelers, gift shops and more.

Volunteers sought to help ‘make a difference’

The St. Johns Housing Partnership will hold a countywide initiative on “Make a Difference Day,” 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21.

The nonprofit will mobilize volunteers to spread out over St. Johns County to do exterior work on homes for veterans, the elderly or the disabled. Volunteers are needed for exterior house painting, yard clean up and to help build wheelchair ramps.

There is still time to sign up to volunteer or donate. Volunteer as an individual or family, or organize a team through a company, organization or church.

Explore the Beach at GTM Research Reserve

The Guana Reserve will hold a beach exploration, 9-11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 21. Collect seashells, search for shark teeth and learn about coastal wildlife. Meet at GTM Research Reserve Visitor Center, 505 Guana River Road, Ponte Vedra Beach.

Wear comfortable closed-toe shoes. Hat, insect repellent, water and sunscreen are recommended. The event is free but online registration is required. Register at gtmnerr.org/visit/events.

Alhambra managing partner to speak at luncheon

Coastal Friends will hold their monthly luncheon from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Nov. 1 at Marsh Landing Country Club, 25655 Marsh Landing Parkway, Ponte Vedra Beach. The featured speaker will be Craig Smith, managing partner of The Alhambra Theatre and Dining.

The luncheon is open to members as well as the community and the menu consists of field green salad with dressing, turkey and gravy, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes and pumpkin pie with whipped cream. Reservations must be made in advance by contacting the luncheon chairman at bartshar@comcast.net as soon as possible. The deadline for $25 checks to be received is Friday morning, Oct. 27.

Titanium Yoga plans Month of Giving

Each week during the month of November, Titanium Yoga in Ponte Vedra Beach will donate funds and supplies to local nonprofits. Donations from the community are welcome. Here’s the schedule:

  • 1-7, Pink Ribbon Jax [suggested donation $300 = 1 mammogram]
  • Nov 8-14, Friends of the Library [suggested donation $20]
  • Nov 15-23, BEAM [canned food drive from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.]
  • Nov 24-30, The Jacksonville Humane Society [dog/cat food and supplies, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.]
