Mystery writers’ focus is jury selection research

This month’s meeting of the Northeast Florida Sisters in Crime will start at noon Saturday, Nov. 4, at the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library. Join fellow writers and readers of mystery novels to hear tips that will enhance your descriptive text and your enjoyment of reading intriguing court case dialogue.

Conducting a “mock jury” is a valuable tool for defense and prosecution attorneys. This research technique can reveal, for example, how specific witnesses will be perceived by jurors.

This month’s speaker, Nancy Ulrich-Suddath, is the founder of Ulrich Research Services, a full-service marketing research firm in Clay County. Her area of expertise has been in qualitative research, but she has conducted more than 6,000 focus groups and hundreds of mock juries. She has collected “a platter full of life’s interesting tidbits” through her research.

The group welcomes misters and sisters to learn more about writing, promoting and enjoying crime fiction.
