Nease girls basketball coach Sherri Anthony achieved her 600th career win in 33 seasons last Friday, Feb. 1, when the Lady Panthers (25-1) defeated Seabreeze High School 93-7 at home.

If that wasn’t reason enough to celebrate, the win marked the 100th victory for this year’s class of seniors, who, coincidentally, were honored before the game for Senior Night. The group includes Peyton Carter, Kiya Turner, Mary Thompson, Tia Robinson and Camille Hobby.

Robinson led the Lady Panthers in scoring against Seabreeze with 22 points, while Turner and Hobby each contributed 19. Hobby also had 10 rebounds, while Turner tallied 12 assists and 14 steals.

The Lady Panthers’ success continued on Tuesday night when they defeated White, 83-17, in the first-round district tournament game. Junior Cecilia Molis led Nease in scoring and rebounds with 14 points and six boards. Turner added 12 points, four rebounds, six assists and seven steals.

Nease plays Middleburg tonight (Thursday) at home in the second round of the district tournament. The game will start at 7 p.m.
