Local communities to host events to support childhood cancer research June 9

In support of Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, homeowners in Toll Brothers communities across the country will take part in the nonprofit’s annual Lemonade Days events, during which volunteers host lemonade stands to raise funds for childhood cancer research. Locally, participating communities will include Coastal Oaks at Nocatee and Julington Lakes, which will be hosting events on Saturday, June 9.

Coastal Oaks at Nocatee, sponsored by The Rotary Club of Ponte Vedra, will offer baked goods and a variety of arts and crafts for both children and adults to help reach its $3,000 fundraising goal, with crafts made during the event to be donated to Wolfson’s Children’s Hospital. Julington Lakes, meanwhile, will host a “family fun day” including activities for children and a backyard-style lunch.

All proceeds of these events will support Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, which shares the vision of founder and creator, Alexandra “Alex” Scott (1996-2004) — a cure for all children with cancer. To date, Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation has raised more than $140 million toward fulfilling Alex’s dream of finding a cure, funding more than 690 cutting-edge research projects nationally.

The Coastal Oaks event will take place at 77 Portsmouth Bay Ave. in Ponte Vedra from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and the Julington Lakes event will be held at 57 Lake Mist Court in St. Johns from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. For additional information about these events, call (904) 285-5550 and (904) 287-9050, respectively.
