JAGA Scholarship Golf Classic raises record $20,000

The Jacksonville Area Golf Association (JAGA) raised a record $20,000 at its 16th annual Scholarship Golf Classic, hosted Oct. 29 by the Ponte Vedra Inn & Club. Sponsored by Nader’s Pest Raiders, the event boasted 104 golfers participating in a four-man scramble on the club’s Ocean Course.

Funds raised by the tournament will support JAGA’s Scholarship Trust program, which currently provides financial aid to 25 students who represent 16 JAGA-member clubs and 15 different colleges in and outside the state of Florida. Since the Trust was formed in 1974, JAGA has awarded approximately $1.75 million to more than 300 deserving area students who aspire to earn college degrees.

Former JAGA President Adair Roberts (2014-15) of Ponte Vedra Inn & Club chaired the event, with Randy Nader of Sawgrass Country Club serving as co-chair. The annual event was first launched by another former JAGA president, the late Bill Black (1993-94), and carries on in his honor today.
