Quintessential '80s pop/rock band Huey Lewis and the News, with special guest Richard Marx, will perform at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre April 22 at 7:30 p.m. (doors open at 6 p.m.). Tickets for the event are currently on sale.

Huey Lewis and the News is entering its 39th year as a band. Formed from two rival bay area bands in 1979, the group continues to tour worldwide and has sold 20 million albums during its run.

The Grammy award-winning band has written and performed top ten hits such as “Heart of Rock & Roll,” “Stuck With You,” “I Want A New Drug,” “If This Is It,” “Hip To Be Square,” “Do You Believe In Love” and “Workin’ For a Livin’.” The group also wrote and performed “The Power of Love” and “Back in Time” for the film "Back to the Future.” “The Power of Love," nominated for an Academy Award, went No. 1 on the Billboard Singles Chart.

Huey Lewis and the News incorporates a variety of musical influences into its live performances, including R&B and soul. Front man Huey Lewis brings bluesy tones to the performance through his harmonica solos. The band consists of Lewis (vocals and harmonica), Johnny Colla (saxophone, guitar and vocals), Bill Gibson (drums, percussion and vocals), Sean Hopper (keyboards and vocals), Stef Burns (guitars and vocals) and John Pierce (bass). The band's live shows feature a horn section with San Francisco bay area luminaries like Rob Sudduth (tenor saxophone), Marvin McFadden (trumpet), and Johnnie Bamont (baritone saxophone).
