Hand & Stone Massage and Facial Spa coming to Jacksonville Beach

Just in time to combat the effects of the sizzling summer sun, a new Hand & Stone Massage and Facial Spa will open in Jacksonville Beach later this month. To be located at 1858 Third St. S. in Pablo Plaza, the spa will hold its grand opening on July 23.

“We will have a grand opening special for people to come and try the spa out,” said Shailesh Patel, owner of the new franchise. “It will be an introductory price of $49.95 to get a service and become a member. Once you become a member, you get one spa a month or one facial a month, and any additional services will be heavily discounted.”

Specializing in massages and facial treatments, the spa will offer Swedish, hot stone, Himalayan salt, sports, deep tissue and oncology massages, in addition to a variety of facials for all skin types. Additional services will include add-ons such as hand, foot and scalp treatments, as well as wax-free hair removal.

“Our job is to match the client’s needs,” Patel said. “So, in the facial, if they’ve got acne, then that will be treated, or if there’s some other issue to resolve, then the treatment for that will be different as well. The idea is to customize it to the customer’s needs.”

Although there are already several other Hand & Stone locations in the Jacksonville area, Patel’s will be the first to open at the Beaches. A businessman with decades of experience in the hospitality industry, Patel said he became drawn to the health and wellness industry about five years ago, when he noticed the increasingly health-conscious trends of society.

“People now look after themselves better, they’re very concerned about their health and everybody works out,” he said. “But people also want to spoil themselves once in a while, and what a nice way to do it, if you have a nice massage or facial.”

Contrasting the franchise against more expensive, high-end spas, Patel said Hand & Stone’s affordability is what makes it stand out from the competition.

“Let’s face it, not everyone can afford to spend $150 a month on a massage, but there’s a good chance more people can afford to pay $50 a month to spoil themselves. For $49.95, you can get a facial or a massage, and it’s the same quality.”

Patel also noted customers do not have to become members to enjoy the spa’s offerings, adding, “If you’re a non-member and you just want to come in for a facial or a massage, you’re absolutely welcome to.”

Down the road, Patel said he hopes to bring the “affordable luxury” of Hand & Stone to other areas of Jacksonville. In the meantime, though, he’s looking forward to serving the Beaches community.

“Come check us out,” he said. “People can pop in any time. You don’t have to have an appointment. Just come and we’ll be ready to service you.”
