Winn-Dixie is partnering with Pie in the Sky Community Alliance to surprise and delight St. Johns County seniors in need with fresh foods to fill their pantry shelves and with quality time to put smiles on their faces.
On Wednesday, June 14, Winn-Dixie associates visited residents of Southern Villas apartments in St. Augustine to deliver 100 cartons of SE Grocers eggs and fresh produce to food-insecure seniors who do not have access to nutritious foods and other resources. The needed essentials and quality time spent with residents had a direct impact on the health and well-being of St. Johns County seniors.
As part of the partnership, Winn-Dixie will continue to donate 100 cartons of eggs each month to Pie in the Sky Community Alliance to help fuel their ongoing food deliveries to more than 550 senior neighbors in need and fight hunger throughout St. Johns County.
According to the U.S. Census, more than 6,000 seniors are hungry in St. Johns County. Winn-Dixie said it wants to help fill that void and is passionate about serving and celebrating its community, especially older adults in need.
