Florida man dies on New Year’s Day in I-95 crash near International Golf Parkway

A 58-year-old man from North Port, Florida (Sarasota County), died on New Year’s Day after losing control of his car on I-95 near International Golf Parkway.

According to a report from Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), James Wayne Clark was traveling northbound in the inside lane of 95 in his 1995 Saab 900 when he attempted to change lanes. Clark consequently lost control, traveled off the roadway and collided with a tree located near the roadway. The crash took place at approximately 6:25 p.m.

He was pronounced deceased on the scene. According to the FHP report, Clark was wearing a seatbelt. The report also states that results are pending regarding whether or not alcohol played a role in the crash.
