Florida Disaster Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday ends June 7

Posted

With hurricane season officially underway, St. Johns County is encouraging residents to begin taking disaster preparedness measures with the declaration of a 2018 Disaster Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday from June 1-7.

The sales tax holiday, which began last Friday, exempts certain supplies from sales tax statewide. Through this Thursday, qualifying items such as flashlights, batteries, portable generators and bottled water can be purchased tax-free from any provider or store in Florida. The tax holiday, however, does not apply to the rental or repair of any qualifying item.

For more information and a complete list of qualifying items, visit www.floridarevenue.com/disasterprep or call St. Johns County Emergency Management at (904) 824-5550.
