The Florida Chamber Music Project (FCMP) will open its 2018-2019 season on Sept. 30 at 3 p.m. at the Ponte Vedra Concert Hall with a performance of Turina’s “La Oración del Torero” and Brahams’ “String Quartet in C Minor.” This will be the sixth season of concerts for the group.
“In addition to the excitement of this concert being our opening for the season, guests will experience a Spanish flavor, but with a strong impressionist influence with the Turina,” FCMP Artistic Director Susan Pardue said. “It has lots of contrasting emotions, making it interesting for the audience and fun to play for the musicians.
“The Brahms quartets are very special for many reasons, but one big one is the fact that he only published three quartets, supposedly after throwing out 20 others before creating one that he deemed worthy of publication,” she added. “The Brahms is full of rich textures and harmonies and is almost symphonic in nature. It is restless and intense in character.”
Pardue, a violist, will be joined in the concert by violinists Patrice Evans, Anna Genest and Annie Hertler, as well as cellist Laurie Casseday. All are members of the Jacksonville Symphony.

Season tickets will be available for purchase through Sept. 30. A Season Pass ticket for all five performances may be purchased through Ticketmaster and will save attendees $24.30 in fees over individual Ticketmaster concert purchases.
