Fields Auto Group — the presenting sponsor of the Ponte Vedra Auto Show — is looking forward to adding several new and exciting cars to its portfolio in the coming months.
Perhaps the most intriguing is the Jaguar I-Pace, the brand’s first all-electric SUV. According to Garry Redig, vice president of operations for Fields in the Jacksonville market, the I-Pace can travel 240 miles per charge, and goes from 0 to 60 mph in four-and-a-half seconds. The starting range MSRP for the vehicle is $69,500, and Fields is expecting it to be available in Jacksonville within the next few months.
“Every article written about it says it’s going to give Tesla a run for its money,” Redig said. “It’s stunning.”
On a similar note, Brandon Starks, general manager of Porsche Jacksonville, said Porsche’s all-electric car will be available within the next 12 months. In addition, he said the Porsche Cayenne will soon be completely redesigned.
Another car of interest for Fields is the Mercedes-Benz A-Class, which is coming out in early November. Blair Sharpe, general manager of Mercedes-Benz of Jacksonville, said this car is being praised for its technology and subsequent ability to learn and adapt to the user. Sharpe noted the A Class will have a Siri or Alexa-type capability that will enable users to make changes in the car by simply saying them out loud. The car will be priced in the mid $30,000s.
“Instead of saying, ‘Hey Siri or hey Alexa,’ you say, ‘Hey Mercedes, can you turn the heat down?” Sharpe explained about the UX. “That in itself is a huge leap forward.”
Mercedes-Benz of Jacksonville is additionally looking forward to the brand’s new, redesigned G-Wagen. Sharpe said it will still have the same attributes of the original G-Wagen, such as off-roading capabilities and its iconic styling, but it will be both wider and longer. Sharpe is expecting that to come out in the fall.
In addition, Redig said Fields is anticipating the arrival of Cadillac’s new XT4, a smaller version of the brand’s XT5 Crossover. The XT4 has a MSRP of $35,000, which Redig noted is a price point that is very attractive to consumers, especially the younger demographic. After waiting for the XT4 for three years, Redig said the car should be available in Jacksonville in a few months.
Redig added that Lexus is coming out with a brand-new Lexus ES sedan, which has a base MSRP of $39,500. Not to mention, Lexus is unveiling another small crossover sports utility called the Lexus UX. Redig expects that to come out in December.
From a facilities perspective, Redig said Fields is building a new Jaguar Land Rover store right next to its current location on Atlantic Boulevard. Once Land Rover moves out of its current facility, Redig said that space will be converted into a new Porsche facility. The old Porsche facility will be converted into a new body shop.
