Daniel E. Blanchard, the CEO at Ewing Real Estate, has been re-elected as chairman of the City of Jacksonville Planning Commission.

The Planning Commission reviews proposed land use changes, rezonings, requests for exceptions, variances and waivers to the Zoning Code and other matters related to land use and area planning in Jacksonville. The decisions made by the Planning Commission help determine how the Jacksonville community grows in the future.

Blanchard has acted as a consultant advising the City of Jacksonville on its housing and finance-related matters, as well as for multiple national builders and real estate investors. He is active in the industry and community, previously serving as the president of the Northeast Florida Builders Association (NEFBA) and as chairman of the President’s Council for the Florida Home Builders Association (FHBA), as well as actively supporting the Builder’s Care Charity.  He has received the NEFBA Good Government Award and a Laurel Award for Excellence in Real Estate Marketing.

“It is an honor and privilege to serve as chairman of the Planning Commission again and to be appointed by two different mayors,” said Blanchard. “We have a very qualified group of commissioners that work hard and make many tough decisions regarding the growth of our community. I look forward to continuing our position of being business friendly and getting behind smart growth as the City of Jacksonville continues to expand in the years to come.”
