Local real estate law practice D.R. Repass, P.A. recently added Ponte Vedra resident Lisa Sawyer to its team as a closing manager.
Joining the firm in July, Sawyer is responsible for ordering the titles, working with lenders and overall facilitating closings when contracts comes into the office.
“I am really trying to help D.R. build his residential real estate business and basically get his name out there,” Sawyer said. “He’s been around for a long time and he really does a lot of commercial deals. So, he’s brought me on to help build his residential.”
Sawyer previously worked at Rock Solid Law and Landmark Title Insurance. Overall, she has been doing residential and commercial closings for 32 years and has lived in Ponte Vedra for 22 years.
“I really like the people aspect,” Sawyer said about her work. “I really enjoy working with first-time homebuyers, but just meeting different people from all walks of life and all over the world, it’s a fascinating experience.”
As for the challenges of her job, Sawyer said international closings can be tricky because they tend to alter the timeline for the closing and the work that needs to be done. Sometimes, she noted, the firm needs to send people to an embassy in their respective country to get a power of attorney notarized and to ensure all necessary documents and materials are sent back to the firm overnight.
“Those are some of the challenges that we’re running into because it seems that everybody is very global now and moving around all the time,” Sawyer said. “We’re just always trying to make sure everybody is going to be where they say they are, so we can facilitate that closing.”
According to Sawyer, D.R. Repass, P.A. can serve any clients in Florida but is not licensed outside of the state.
“If anybody has anything that they need help with inside the state of Florida, we’ll be glad to help them,” she said. “I’d love to help anybody with any of their residential real estate needs.”
