Dorothy Tippett Speer, of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, died of natural causes Oct. 18, 2017, at the age of 92 years.
Mrs. Speer graduated from DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana, where she was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. She came to Ponte Vedra Beach from Fort Lee, New Jersey, in 1989 and made her home at Vicar’s Landing. She always loved song and dance, and led the Vicar’s chorus singing group for many years. Her ballroom dancing career really blossomed during her years in Ponte Vedra, and she retired as a gold level competitor, having traveled and danced at numerous locations across North and South America. She was also a member of the Ponte Vedra Inn & Club, where she enjoyed playing tennis and other activities for many seasons.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. David S. Speer, and she is survived by her two sons, David and Richard, and their families, including two beautiful grandchildren.
Her energy was exceptional, and she dearly loved all of her family and the many wonderful friends that she met at Vicar’s Landing. We will all miss her very much.
Craig Funeral Home, Crematory and Memorial Park is in charge of her final arrangements.
