DEFINE body & mind in Jacksonville Beach brings new concept to working out

Two Jacksonville natives are bringing a new fitness concept to the Beaches.

Kelly Kuntz and Julianne Klempf have opened DEFINE body & mind exercise studio in Jacksonville Beach, the first in Florida, and offered a free preview of the facility last month. DEFINE’s aim is to combine movement, whole foods education and mindfulness under one roof. It offers four distinct classes, including body (barre), rev (indoor cycling), yoga, and mind-hammock (meditation).

“There was nothing like that around,” Kuntz said upon returning to the Jacksonville area and looking at gyms. “It has every single thing you need to be your best.”

Kuntz and Klempf were inspired to open a body & mind exercise studio after living in larger markets, like New York and Miami, and wanted to bring the concept home.

“We live at the Beaches and love the community out here,” Kuntz said. “We knew it could support a DEFINE.”

The owners said DEFINE doesn’t require any special skills and isn’t just for fitness fanatics.

“It’s a place for everyone,” Klempf said.

The two women opened the fitness facility not long after another life-changing event. Both Kuntz and Klempf became first-time mothers recently.

“It made us better business partners,” Kuntz said of their newfound shared motherhood. “We really know what busy means now.”
