The St. Johns County Council (COA) on Aging has named Matt McCord the new director of the transportation department, which includes The Sunshine Bus Company and paratransit, door-to-door services. McCord began his new position Feb. 1.
“Matt McCord is a fantastic choice for our new transportation director,” COA Executive Director Becky Yanni said. “He has been with our department since 2015 and will continue to lead Council on Aging to a great future in St Johns County.”
McCord previously served as road supervisor/training supervisor for COA. Before that, he was the director of transportation for Friendship Community Care, Inc. He earned his Bachelor of Professional Studies degree in public relations from Arkansas Tech University.
“I am honored to assume this new position,” McCord said. “I look forward to serving my neighbors in St. Johns County and pledge to provide the highest quality of service to our community.”
McCord succeeds Ed Clark, who retired Jan. 31. McCord will follow in his footsteps by serving COA, which runs not only the public transportation for St. Johns County, but offers an array of services, including Meals on Wheels, in-home care, five senior centers, an adult day facility and more.
