Florida Chamber Music Project (FCMP) will celebrate Mozart’s 298th birthday with “Opera Without Words” at 3 p.m. Jan. 28 at the Beaches Museum Chapel at the Beaches Museum at 505 Beach Blvd., Jacksonville Beach.
The program will feature Mozart’s String Quartet in D Major, K499, Pucci’s Crisantemi and Verdi’s String Quartet in E minor.
As FCMP Artistic Director Susan Pardue said, “Any concert with opera music and no Mozart would be sadly lacking. We are so happy to celebrate his birthday with music from composers who were known for their operas, including Mozart himself.”
Crisantemi means chrysanthemum in Italian and is the flower Italians often bring to the cemetery to honor loved ones. Pucci wrote the music in memory of a dear friend. Verdi’s String Quartet is the only surviving chamber music piece in his catalogue of music, written when the production of Aida was delayed due to the illness of the soprano.
Prorated season tickets for the four remaining concerts are still available and cost $108. There is also a three-concert flex ticket purchase for $81. Season tickets and flex passes can be purchased through FCMP’s website, flchambermusic.org. Single tickets are $30. All tickets are available for purchase through Eventbrite. Single tickets are also available for purchase at the door, as are student tickets at a cost of $10.
Beaches Museum Chapel is wheelchair-accessible and has free parking along Pablo Avenue near 4th Street North of Beach Boulevard.
The Florida Chamber Music Project was founded 11 years ago by violist Susan Pardue. Members include violinists Patrice Evans and Ann Hertler and cellist Laurie Casseday. All are members of the Jacksonville Symphony.
