Former Ponte Vedra High School pitcher Ricky Karcher was drafted in the 13th round (377th pick) by the Cincinnati Reds.

Karcher had a 3-1 career record at PVHS in 24 innings pitched and an ERA of 2.07. His best performance in a Shark uniform was a 1-0 complete game shutout performance against State Runner-up Clay High School during the 2014 season. In 2015, he transferred from Ponte Vedra to Saline (Michigan) High School.

The Sharks were a pitching factory from 2010-14, with many of their pitchers going on to play collegiate and professional ball. These included Max Foody from 2010, a draft pick of the St. Louis Cardinals; Elliot Warford, a 2011 grad who starred at Furman University and the current pitching coach at Ponte Vedra High; Matt Deegen (2013), who signed a D1 tender with College of Charleston; and Bryan Yelverton (2013), who played college ball at Georgia Southern

Walker Sheller (2013), the winning pitcher in the 2013 state championship game (and semi-final win over nationally ranked Tampa Jesuit), played at Stetson and is currently pitching in organized ball for Lexington in the Kansas City organization. Jackson Johnson (2014) became the starting left fielder for Tulane in his freshman year before incurring a career-ending arm injury the following season – he now plays basketball for the Tulane basketball team – while Evan Heffner (2014) and Anthony Egelin (2014) also pitched in college at the D2 level.
