Canines, veterans graduate from K9s for Warriors training

Posted

K9s for Warriors is a non-profit organization that provides service dogs to veterans suffering from Post-traumatic Stress Disability, traumatic brain injury and/or military sexual trauma as a result of military service post 9/11, with the mission of empowering veterans to return to civilian life with dignity and independence. Most of the dogs used in the program are rescue animals.

K9s for Warriors also provides housing and training for participating veterans. The new facility, which opened in April, can accommodate up to 16 veterans who bunk in one of the four individual houses on the site. Training sessions are held 12 times per year; each training session lasts three weeks.
