Birch Island Veterinary Center opens on Philips Highway

Birch Island Veterinary Center recently opened at 14485 Philips Highway in Jacksonville.

According to the new practice’s website, it is a dream for lead doctor Deanna Greer, who has been a Jacksonville native for over 15 years and a veterinarian for over 20 years. The practice is named after a small island in the middle of Paradox Lake in the Adirondack Mountains of Upstate New York, where Greer used to vacation with her family as a child.

Birch Island Veterinary Center offers full medical, surgical and dental care, as well as boarding, day care, grooming and more. The practice has a veterinarian and personnel on duty six days a week who are trained and equipped to handle urgent care. The practice will see dogs, cats, rabbits and pocket pets, such as gerbils, hamsters, guinea pigs, etc.

The Resort and Spa at Birch Island features two outdoor play spaces. One is a splash pad for water fun, and the other is an agility range and open running space where dogs can climb, bounce and play. The practice also offers an indoor play area totaling approximately 2,000 square feet that includes a salt-water pool, toys, games and open space to run. No guests spend their day in their rooms; they are free to explore, play, rest, eat and drink as they wish. All playgroups are monitored by staff.

Birch Island offers grooming for both dogs and cats Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Various levels of grooming and services are available, with rates varying by breed, temperament, coat condition and size.
