Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices expands to Rome

Across the Atlantic in beautiful Rome, Italy, Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices further expanded its global presence after Milan-based Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices MAGGI Properties Agency acquired a leader in the Italian real estate industry, ROMA Immobiliare.

Now trading as Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices ROMA Immobiliare, the operation has been active in the Capitoline market for more than 15 years, serving homebuyers and sellers in Rome’s historic center with three strategically located offices.

Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices MAGGI Properties Agency itself joined the global network in 2019. Its recent acquisition confirms the considerable interest from international investors in Italy and Rome. As markets worldwide have sprung back into life after travel restrictions started to ease, Italy has become one of the top destinations for overseas buyers looking to buy property.

And Rome in particular is enjoying a resurgence in activity that places the latest brokerage to join the Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices global network in an exciting position.

"Milan had a boom during and after EXPO; now Rome's turn has come,” explained Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices ROMA Immobiliare CEO Francesco Minervini. “All indicators confirm that right now the capital is the most important bet for national and international investment funds and entrepreneurs. The growing attention is also confirmed by the flow of capital from the global product, service and hospitality chains. Our extensive experience in real estate in the central areas of the city will be crucial.”

Commenting on the acquisition, Marcus Benussi, managing partner and general counsel of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices MAGGI Properties Agency, emphasized, "We have found the best partner in the Rome market, and we are confident that this expansion will be preparatory to further growth of our network towards the south, which attracts the international audience of investors. We have great ambitions."

Luxury residences in Italy and across the globe are enjoying high activity right now, as luxury markets are less beholden to fluctuations that can affect the rest of the property market. And affluent buyers and sellers alike are keen to work with the Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices network members due to their proven track record of representing clients in high-end transactions.

“Our network’s specialists have demonstrated that they conduct their business the Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices way — powered by a brand that stands for trust, stability, longevity and integrity,” Christy Budnick, CEO of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices said. “They are able to utilize a global network of powerful relationships in order to deliver best-in-class results to our clients. The global connectivity of our brand really makes us stand out above our competitors, and specialists can utilize this strong network in order to bring buyers and sellers together from all corners of the world.”

This recent expansion in the Italian market is just one of many developments confirmed by Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices in 2022. Alongside significant growth in the U.S. market, the company’s Spanish operation has just added two offices on the island of Mallorca, taking the total number of locations in Spain to seven.

The immediate future looks bright and busy for the real estate franchisor, too. The company is currently also pursuing expansion in France, Monaco, Czech Republic, Romania, Italy, Switzerland and Aruba.

“It is an incredibly exciting time for the Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices brand,” said Michael Jalbert, EVP of business development at Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices. “As part of our strategic growth plan, we have been working hard to identify new relationships with highly valued names in local markets to further expand our global presence. The Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices brand is respected worldwide — brokerages are eager to join our network and benefit from our vast global connections, advanced technology and unparalleled marketing resources.”
