Forbes Magazine partnered with global market research firm Statista Inc. to compile the annual list, which is now in its sixth year. The results are based on a survey of 45,000 Americans working at companies with a minimum of 1,000 employees.
Participants were asked to rank their employers based on criteria such as age, gender, ethnicity, disability and LGBTQ+ equality, as well as general diversity. Those from underrepresented groups were also asked to nominate companies other than their own.
Forbes also considered publicly disclosed information about representation, board and leadership diversity, and proactive diversity and inclusion initiatives when compiling its list.
